Warm, Spiced Pumpkin Cider

Ingredients - Apple Cider

  • 12 organic apples (using a mix of varying sweetness/tartness is best - we chose Jazz, Fiji, & Honeycrisp). Wash well & roughly chop

  • 1 whole nutmeg

  • 4-6 cinnamon sticks (Cassia imparts a nice, strong flavor)

  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves (about 20)

Ingredients - Spiced Pumpkin

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree

  • 2 cup water

  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup, to taste

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice

  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger (or 1/2” fresh ginger, mashed)

Instructions

  1. Toss all Apple Cider ingredients into a slow cooker & add just enough water to cover the apples. Don't overdo it otherwise it'll come out watery. It's better to put less than more. Slow cook for about 5-8 hours.

  2. Remove all whole spices

  3. Mash with a potato masher

  4. Strain using a mesh strainer or cheese cloth squeezing out as much juice as possible. (Use the apple pulp to make delicious homemade applesauce by pulsing it in a food processor until your preferred consistency!)

  5. In a small sauce pot, mix all Spiced Pumpkin ingredients together.

  6. Boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally then remove from heat & let cool.

  7. For every 4 ounces of apple cider, pour in 2 tablespoons spiced pumpkin syrup.

Cozy up & enjoy!!

With much love ️❤️,
Dr. Narayan
