Homemade Ghee

Ingredients

  • 1 lb organic unsalted grass-fed butter

Instructions

  1. Place 1 lb of organic, unsalted, grass-fed butter in a heavy bottom saucepan with high sides.

  2. Place on stove and simmer for 20-30 mins uncovered.

  3. As the butter melts, the milk solids will bubble up and surface at the top, separating from the butterfat, then start dropping to the โ€‹bottom.

  4. Once the milk solids turn a rich golden brown, remove off the stove. Watch carefully! Don't let the solids burn! Itโ€™s a fine line. If the ghee turns brown or black, discard - itโ€™s burned. ๐Ÿ™

  5. Strain the โ€œliquid goldโ€ into a clean, dry glass jar. Let it cool completely before securing with an airtight lid. It will solidify as it cools.

  6. Store in fridge or at room temperature. It will store in the fridge for up to a year! (Never lasts more than a week in our house! ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Use as a replacement for traditional butter.

ENJOY! ๐Ÿ˜‹

With much โค๏ธ,
Dr. Narayan
