Community

The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water, and food - Dean Ornish, MD

Community.  This is a word that has been trailing me for several months now. Its voice keeps getting louder and louder.  Not surprising, one of my son’s first series of homeschool lessons was on [you guessed it] community!  In September, we spent several weeks on this very topic, discussing everything community.

When you really sit with a word, extract its truth and meaning, and condense this into second grade learning, it leaves a lasting impression - one that resonates within you.

In our current high-tech world, I personally feel that the essence of community has slowly faded along the way.  Now, toss in Covid-19 and it almost feels like a distant memory with that lingering, unsettling feeling of disconnect in the air.

Living a healthy lifestyle involves a daily choice and long-term commitment.  Leading one can feel isolating, particularly when family and friends don’t follow the same path.  It can create friction and discord which are difficult to overcome.

Times are certainly changing, but regardless of where you live in the world, we all face similar challenges.  With the holidays approaching, this can pose a significant source of dread.

So, what do I say?

Let’s change this!

Let’s support each other!  Let’s build a community that makes pursuing a healthy lifestyle seamless and fun!  Let’s inspire, uplift, and motivate one another!  Innately, we know that this is the right path, so let’s BUILD a supportive community around it.

I have always made it a point to support businesses whose values resonate with my own.  My husband will vouch that I can even be a bit stubborn about it.  Now, my hope is to take this a step further to build a strong, cohesive tribe that will further support this mission.

This is why a very important element of this new practice is the incorporation of community partners.  This includes any business or practitioner who supports health, wellness, and healing.  Online resources are also welcome!  It can range from grocery stores and restaurants serving delicious, organic whole foods to various healthcare practitioners.  There are so many incredible healing modalities out there!  Having included acupuncture, Ayurveda, homeopathy, reiki, traditional Chinese medicine, etc. for years, I truly believe in the power of these ancient practices.

One thing that I always emphasize is that there are multiple pathways toward healing. Health is never a one way path.  Choosing what resonates with you personally is key.  I am simply there to educate, oversee, guide, and cheer you on [my fave] along the way!

But let’s not stop there!

We’re thinking outside of the box, remember?  Basically, any business, organization, or provider that supports healing of the mind, body, or spirit is welcome!

In the coming weeks, I will be reaching out to potential partners to see how we can uniquely collaborate, but most importantly, to see how we can offer our very best to all of YOU!  Do share any potential partners that you’d like included. Better yet, if YOU are one yourself, reach out via email to info@rojanarayanmd.com.

We must take it upon ourselves to consciously build our own intentional community. A community which reflects our values and beliefs encompassing optimal health.

The time is NOW.

With much love,
